What a beautiful time of the year to be in the middle of Rumney Village! Lilacs are in bloom up and down the streets and the warm sun shines right in through our front door. Many patrons are returning from their winter travels and coming in to see what’s new: in books and in local happenings..........
The last five weeks have been fun with many children coming in for Lady Bug Club. Each year the 'best' ten picture books are selected by librarians and educators here in the State of New Hampshire. We are fortunate to have all ten books and the children have loved reading them and working on various projects and crafts which accompany each book. Our final book selection was Creepy Carrots and after listening to the story the children made and decorated their own carrots.
We are keeping Dads in mind with Father’s Day coming soon. Come in on Wednesday, June 11th at 3:30pm for our “Fab Dads” program. Children of all ages will hear a fun story about Dads, see some funny photos of when Mrs. Anderson was a kid with her father, and then create a one-of-a-kind card for their own Dad. If you can’t make it, come in anytime during our open hours for resources to take home.
With school just about over let’s not forget that reading helps students retain their skills over the summer months. The Byron G. Merrill Library cares for your children and has books for all levels and interests. Let one of our friendly librarians assist you in finding just the right ones. We will be taking on science in a big way this summer with the Collaborative Summer Library Program: Fizz, Boom, Read! Readers of all ages will explore all kinds of science topics as we get together for our weekly events beginning in July. Look for more details to come soon.
Mystery readers and fans of James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club will be pleased to know that #13 entitled Unlucky 13 is on the shelf...happy new mother Lindsay Boxer receives a photo of a killer from her past and Lindsay knows no one will be safe while this person is free...so much for lazy mornings home with the baby. Blossom Street fans will welcome Debbie Macomber’s 10th book in this popular series entitled Blossom Street Brides. I took it home last week and loved it...you are welcome to place your name on the reserve list. We also have Emily Giffin’s latest, The One and Only... an extraordinary story of love and loyalty and an unconventional heroine struggling to reconcile both. And, these are only three of our many new titles!
The library is open Wednesdays (2 until 6), Thursdays (10 until 12 and 2 until 6) and Saturdays (10 until 1). All Rumney residents are invited to stop by....see you soon! Questions? You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call during our regular hours at 786-9520.
