The decorations are hung and the Byron G. Merrill Library is looking festive for the holiday season. Our Annual Christmas Open House will be held on Thursday, December 18th from 6-8pm. Come, enjoy live music by "Rhubarb Pie", a Christmas reading by John Allen, yummy homemade goodies and our special punch. We hope you and your family can join us as the library is bursting with good music and good cheer!
As you make your gift list this season, you might consider purchasing a commemorative brick in honor of a loved one to help support our Lift Project. These bricks will be placed at the new entry way once our project has been completed. We have a variety of bricks on display and brochures that detail the "Buy a Brick" program are available at the library. For more information pick up a brochure or you can order online at www.polarengraving.com/rumneylibrary.
We had grand intentions of reading a lot of Christmas stories with our young patrons this month but the weather has not been cooperative. We did have fun last week decorating gingerbread people... we had good workers who left with some very yummy looking cookies! Take a look at FB or our blog at www.rumneylibrary.blogspot.com to see some fun pictures.
The Ladies Knitting Society was cancelled last week because of the weather. Rumor tells us that one of our members is in the hospital and we all send our good wishes her way. Our January get-together will be on January 8th at 2. This is also a good opportunity for anyone who would like to get started knitting but doesn’t know where to begin. Newcomers are always welcome.
Our Winter Hours continue... Wednesdays 1 – 5, Thursdays 10 – 5, and Saturdays 10 -1. The library will be closed December 24, 25 and 31st as well as January 1st. We always enjoy seeing and helping our patrons. Have you ‘liked’ us on FB?? Please do!
The Byron G. Merrill Library is soliciting bids through its Construction Manager for subcontract work related to the planned addition and alterations to make the library accessible to the disabled. Bids to the CM are due on December 23, 2014. If approved by the Town at the March 2015 meeting, it is planned that construction will begin this Spring and be completed over a three month period. The project consists of a 1,200 square foot wood framed entry addition with masonry veneer and associated interior renovations to add a platform lift for ADA access to the library. Conneston Construction, Inc. (CCI) of Gilford, NH is the Construction Manager for the project. The Library encourages local bidders to submit bids for work on the project. For more information regarding submitting bids, contact Jeff Downing or Jon Healy at CCI (524-3776).
