Our March Calendar is full of events for all ages at the Byron G. Merrill Library. We hope that you will take a look and select an activity or two or three that might appeal to you. We are always looking for new ideas so be sure to share your thoughts with us. • Calling all school age readers.......This month the ‘Big Kids Story Time’ is becoming the Book Worm Club and will offer a variety of reading challenges and, of course, a lot of fun. It will be a time to talk and think about the books we read and enjoy some neat games and crafts. The group will meet on most Wednesday afternoons at 3 but we will help you keep up with the challenges at any other time. Be sure to check FB for schedule updates. • Little Kids Story Time is scheduled for March 9th and 23rd at 10 am and we hope to plan a Saturday session or two... again...watch for FB announcements. Ms. Carla will be presenting and will offer stories, crafts, games, and lots of fun. We will work on colors, letters, and rhymes. • Our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program continues... Dominic, Hanna, Caleb and Clara are reading (listening!) up a storm. We have a March handout with 31 suggestions for interacting with little ones. • The Ladies Book Club will be meeting at Susan’s on Tuesday, March 8 at 7:00pm to discuss the graphic novel, "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi. This graphic-style book is a memoir of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Books are still available at the library. • Local Library Directors who belong to the Scrooge and Marley Library Cooperative will be meeting at our library on Thursday, March 10th from nine until noon. We are excited for these twenty directors to see our beautiful library and we have been very busy dusting and neatening so that we will look our best. • The Knitters will gather on Thursday, March 17th at two (this is a change from our regularly scheduled time because of Town Meeting so please mark your calendars accordingly.) It is such fun to see what everyone is working on and just have a chance to visit with others with a common interest. Won’t you join us?? • Most Thursday mornings from ten until noon, local historians and members of the Rumney Historical Society meet to work on our programs, displays and memorabilia. If you have an hour or two perhaps you will join us. • The Merrill Theater's Family Movie Night will be showing "Return of the Jedi", continuing our Star Wars series, on Friday, March 18 at 6:00pm. Popcorn will be provided; please bring your own beverage. This is a fun family time and a good time to relax after a busy week. • Teens and tweens will Get Crafty on Saturday, March 19th at 10. Come hang out and craft together. You may even enjoy learning a new hobby! • We’re planning an Easter Egg Hunt on Wednesday, March 23rd at 3. This will be a fun afternoon for all ages. • Our Christmas Club will meet on Friday, March 25th at 2. Our challenge this month is to collect a few memories and photos so we are prepared when it is time to write THE Christmas letter! Carla will bring treats and Sara will have a small craft for us to complete. Little steps will result in big strides! You are welcome to join us. *****This librarian wants to thank everyone who stopped in last week to wish me a happy birthday... it was a fun occasion with flowers, cards, and treats. I loved it!*****
