Byron G. Merrill Library is jumping into fall with lots of activities for everyone. Preschool through third grade children are reading the 2018 Ladybug book selections and will be voting on their favorite. The Ladybug Picture Book Award is designed to promote early literacy and honor the best in recent children's picture books and is chosen by a vote of New Hampshire children. We invite our young readers to stop by for a fun read and keep track of your reading progress with our custom-made bookmarks. When you have read all ten books, you are invited to cast your vote for your favorite!

A huge thank you goes out to all those who made the Byron G. Merrill Library’s Family Fun Festival a success! From those who planned the event, baked homemade goodies, dug plants for the plant sale, spent countless hours prepping books, and those who used their muscles to set everything up and take it all down again at the end of the day, and many more too numerous to mention – you all have our undying gratitude. We are also especially appreciative of all those who stopped by to shop and contribute toward the library and its endeavors. All proceeds of the sales will go toward the new flooring project in Merrill Hall in the lower part of the library.

Just two more days until our super exciting Family Fun Festival... it all starts at 9 am on Saturday, June 9th, here at the library with live music thanks to Paul Ronci. Carla and her team have planned a colossal book sale... hundreds of books for readers of all ages...fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, dvds, and plenty of choices for young readers. The sooner you stop by, the better your choice! Sheila and Betty Jo have been gathering some very nice plants for your garden. The plants are all locally grown (mostly by Betty Jo) and will perk up your yards. Rachel and Lorrie are planning a huge table of yummy baked goods...brownies, cookies, breads etc. It has been rumored that Rachel will be making her special cinnamon rolls and we all know that Lorrie is the best at making coffee! Jane and Candace have some fun activities planned for the little ones so be sure to bring the kids along. Looking for a fun family portrait?? Wayne will be here with his vintage auto... so bring your cameras. Our Fair will run from 9am until noon so stop by for a few minutes or plan to stay awhile... it promises to be a beautiful day. Proceeds from the day will be directed to new flooring in Merrill Hall... our beautiful room on the lower level. Donations of books, plants, and baked goods will be welcomed. We will be open Wednesday from 10 until 5, Thursday from 1 until 5, and, of course, we will all be here on Saturday. Check out Facebook for the latest updates and give us a call if you have any questions – 786-9520. See you Saturday!

The weather outside may be frightful, but Byron G. Merrill Library continues to be a hub of activity in the town of Rumney. We have a full month for February planned with events for all ages and interests. In fact we will even begin in January… that makes up for February being the shortest month! At this time of year ‘cabin fever’ settles in so let’s all make an effort to get out and perhaps even try something new!
