Family Fun Fest... A HUGE SUCCESS!

A huge thank you goes out to all those who made the Byron G. Merrill Library’s Family Fun Festival a success! From those who planned the event, baked homemade goodies, dug plants for the plant sale, spent countless hours prepping books, and those who used their muscles to set everything up and take it all down again at the end of the day, and many more too numerous to mention – you all have our undying gratitude. We are also especially appreciative of all those who stopped by to shop and contribute toward the library and its endeavors. All proceeds of the sales will go toward the new flooring project in Merrill Hall in the lower part of the library.
What an event it was! The day began with the warm sun and just enough breeze to keep the bugs away. As people browsed books for sale, children were entertained by making crafts with Jane Kelso and a corn hole toss game. Betty Jo Taffe lent her gardening expertise to the plant sale and many local bakers contributed to the bake sale which was active with hungry shoppers the entire morning. Paul Ronci’s music added to the festive atmosphere and Wayne and Charlene Farnsworth’s beautifully restored Model A truck provided lots of conversation and photo opportunities. For those who may have missed the event or would like to continue shopping our book sale, come see us during Rumney Old Home Day on Saturday, August 11.

Family Fun Fest - Saturday June 9th!

Just two more days until our super exciting Family Fun Festival... it all starts at 9 am on Saturday, June 9th, here at the library with live music thanks to Paul Ronci. Carla and her team have planned a colossal book sale... hundreds of books for readers of all ages...fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, dvds, and plenty of choices for young readers. The sooner you stop by, the better your choice! Sheila and Betty Jo have been gathering some very nice plants for your garden. The plants are all locally grown (mostly by Betty Jo) and will perk up your yards. Rachel and Lorrie are planning a huge table of yummy baked goods...brownies, cookies, breads etc. It has been rumored that Rachel will be making her special cinnamon rolls and we all know that Lorrie is the best at making coffee! Jane and Candace have some fun activities planned for the little ones so be sure to bring the kids along. Looking for a fun family portrait?? Wayne will be here with his vintage auto... so bring your cameras. Our Fair will run from 9am until noon so stop by for a few minutes or plan to stay awhile... it promises to be a beautiful day. Proceeds from the day will be directed to new flooring in Merrill Hall... our beautiful room on the lower level. Donations of books, plants, and baked goods will be welcomed. We will be open Wednesday from 10 until 5, Thursday from 1 until 5, and, of course, we will all be here on Saturday. Check out Facebook for the latest updates and give us a call if you have any questions – 786-9520. See you Saturday!
