It's Happening in October!

Byron G. Merrill Library is jumping into fall with lots of activities for everyone. Preschool through third grade children are reading the 2018 Ladybug book selections and will be voting on their favorite. The Ladybug Picture Book Award is designed to promote early literacy and honor the best in recent children's picture books and is chosen by a vote of New Hampshire children. We invite our young readers to stop by for a fun read and keep track of your reading progress with our custom-made bookmarks. When you have read all ten books, you are invited to cast your vote for your favorite!
Storytime with Carla for our preschoolers is each Wednesday morning at 10:00am and includes reading from a fun picture book, and hands-on crafts and activities for the little ones. This week's selection is How Big Could Your Pumpkin Grow? by Wendell Minor. We will be exploring the inside of a pumpkin! Moms, Grandparents, and caretakers are invited to bring their 3, 4, and 5 year olds to this program each Wednesday morning.
Rachel has been hard at work setting up a new book display. Check out our new Spooky Center with themed books especially selected for the month of October for readers of all ages. The choice will be constantly changing as books are checked out and then returned. With the shorter days, falling leaves, and thoughts of Halloween… we find this the perfect time to curl up with a tingly read!
The Ladies Knitting Society is invited to join us on Thursday, October 18th from two until four at the library. We welcome back our knitters as the weather cools and we take out our warm, snuggly projects. Come gather around the big round table for a time to work on a current project and enjoy some hot tea and a decadent and delicious treat along with some fun conversation. Bring along some of your completed projects to show and inspire and perhaps a friend or two. Knitters and non-knitters are invited to join us for a pleasant afternoon.
Elementary children are invited to join us for an Old Fashioned Fall Fest on Thursday, November 1st from 3:00-4:00. We understand that there will not be school that afternoon so we hope to see you! We miss you! Carla and Rachel are busy planning a fun afternoon and we will have more details in the weeks ahead. The library is open each Wednesday from 10 until 5, Thursday from 1 until 5, and Saturday from 10 until 1. We invite you to stop in!
